As a Veterinary Surgeon, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to animals through diagnosing and treating illnesses, performing surgeries, and advising owners on proper animal care. You will work closely with other veterinary professionals and support staff to ensure the well-being of pets and other animals.
Key Responsibilities:
Medical Care:
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to diagnose their health conditions.
- Develop and administer treatment plans, including surgeries, vaccinations, and other medical procedures.
- Prescribe medications and recommend dietary and lifestyle changes to improve animal health.
Surgery:
- Perform a variety of surgical procedures, ranging from routine orthopedic surgery, all kind of soft tissue surgery, Opthalmic Surgical Procedure.
- Ability and experience to Perform Endoscopy procedure.
- Ensure animals receive appropriate post-operative care and monitor their recovery.
- Perform different type of Physiotherapy Procedure.
Client Interaction:
- Communicate effectively with pet parents to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and care instructions.
- Provide compassionate and empathetic support to clients during difficult situations, such as chronic illness management.
Diagnostic Tests:
- Conduct and interpret diagnostic tests, including blood work, x-rays, ultrasounds, and other imaging techniques.
- Collaborate with veterinary specialists for advanced diagnostic and treatment options when necessary.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records for all patients on software.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards in veterinary medicine.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with veterinary technicians, assistants, and administrative staff to provide comprehensive care.
- Participate in staff meetings and continuing education to stay updated on the latest veterinary practices and technologies.
Emergency Care:
- Provide emergency care and treatment for animals in critical condition.
- Be available for on-call duties as required.
- May involve working in rotational shifts
Qualifications:
- Master of Veterinary Surgery (MVSc – Surgery & Radiology) degree from an accredited veterinary College.
- Valid veterinary license to practice in India.
- Minimum of 2 and maximum of 7 years of experience as a veterinary surgeon.
- Proficiency in performing a wide range of surgical procedures.
- Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to interpret complex medical history/data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to animal care.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a specialized area of veterinary Surgery (e.g., soft tissue, orthopedics, ophthalmology oncology, cardiology).
- Certification in veterinary surgery or related specialty.
- Familiarity with veterinary practice management software.
